Mercury-Free, Tooth-Colored Fillings

Tooth decay and cavities affect most people at some point in their lives, but because they often cause a number of symptoms (including toothaches), they are often detected and treated before they become too severe. In many cases, the treatment is a tooth-colored filling, which utilizes biocompatible, tooth-colored composite resin to fill the cavity and stop tooth decay from spreading.

What to Expect

Tooth decay is caused by oral bacteria infecting your tooth’s main structure (called dentin), and causing a cavity as it spreads through the tooth. During your visit, Dr. George will carefully clean the bacteria and infection within the cavity. Then, he will fill the opening in your tooth with resin that’s been tinted to match your tooth’s color.

By placing a tooth-colored filling as soon as possible, you can prevent more severe internal tooth infection. If the decay reaches the innermost tissues, inside of the pulp at the center of the tooth, then root canal therapy or tooth extraction may be necessary.
